Steel Removable Hooks for Lifting

Steel Removable Hooks for Lifting

We offer a factory-direct supply of high-strength, US Type G70 Clevis Grab Hooks, models H330 and A330. This robust hook is specifically engineered for demanding lifting, hoisting, and cargo handling applications. Manufactured using a drop-forging process from high-quality carbon or alloy steel, this hook provides a reliable and secure method for anchoring, shortening, or connecting transport chains. Its integrated clevis allows for a quick and removable connection, making it an essential component in the heavy industry, mining, transportation, and logistics sectors.

Product Details

This specialized hook is defined by its unique combination of a grab hook profile and a clevis pin connection.

  • Grab Hook Design: The hook features a distinct, shallow throat opening. This design is specifically intended to securely “grab” a link of chain, allowing for the adjustment of chain length or the creation of a secure, non-slip anchor point. It is not designed for tip-loading.
  • Clevis Connection: Instead of an eye, the hook is terminated with a U-shaped clevis. This allows for a direct and secure connection to a chain link or other rigging fitting using a removable clevis pin and cotter pin. This “removable hook” design offers greater versatility than a permanently attached eye hook.
  • Drop-Forged Construction: The hook is manufactured through a drop-forging process, which aligns the steel’s grain structure to the shape of the hook, resulting in superior strength, fatigue resistance, and durability compared to cast or welded alternatives.
  • Material and Finish Options: The hooks are made from high-strength carbon steel or alloy steel and are available in several protective finishes to suit different environments:
    • Electric Galvanized (Zinc Plated): Provides good corrosion resistance for general use.
    • Hot Dip Galvanized: Offers a thicker, more robust layer of zinc for superior corrosion protection in harsh or outdoor environments.
    • Painted: Provides a basic level of protection and can be color-coded for identification.

Product Features

Our G70 Clevis Grab Hooks are engineered for strength, safety, and a long service life, offering several key advantages:

  • High Strength and Wear Resistance: The drop-forged alloy/carbon steel construction ensures excellent durability and resistance to deformation under load.
  • Secure Chain Shortening: The grab hook’s unique throat design allows it to securely engage a chain link without the risk of slipping, making it ideal for creating chain sling legs of a specific length or for load binding.
  • Reliable and Removable Connection: The clevis pin system provides a strong, reliable connection that can be easily attached, detached, or replaced in the field.
  • Versatile Application: Suitable for use with both transport chain and wire rope assemblies in a wide range of industrial environments.
  • Corrosion Resistant Finishes: Multiple galvanization and painting options are available to protect the hook from rust and corrosion, extending its operational life.

Instructions for Safe Use

Proper use is critical for safety in all lifting and load-securing operations. Adhere strictly to the following guidelines:

  1. Do Not Overload: Use the hook strictly in accordance with its rated Working Load Limit (WLL). Overloading is strictly prohibited.
  2. Inspect Before Use: Before every use, visually inspect the hook body and clevis pin for any signs of wear, deformation, cracks, or other damage.
  3. Ensure Secure Connection: When installing, ensure the clevis pin is correctly inserted and secured. If nuts are used, they must be tightened, and anti-loosening washers should be considered where necessary.
  4. Apply Load Correctly: The load must be applied vertically to the base (saddle) of the hook. Strictly prohibit oblique (side) pulling and shock loading (sudden impacts).
  5. Maintain and Replace: Perform regular maintenance, including lubrication where applicable. Any hook that is found to have cracks, significant wear, or has been deformed must be immediately removed from service and scrapped.
